Conductive urethane wheels are custom cast with special additives to produce conductive urethane wheels. These wheels and rollers are the most popular with the robotic industry to protect sensitive electrical components. Traditional wheels of similar material like rubber or plastic are not conductive and an electrical charge will build up inside the equipment creating a very unsafe environment when the static charge is greater than ground provided. This will result in loud visual sparking to the closest point of ground or if touched by human the electrical charge will be transferred through contact.
Plan Tech’s specialized formula of urethane will turn everyday urethane resin into a conductive urethane for robotic wheels and robot roller applications. The specialty additive does not impare the physical properties of the wheel and outperforms from similar material like rubber 3:1. For most conductive urethane wheels there will not be a setup charge for new applications due to over the last 30 years we have built what we call a “family mold” system. The capabilities of high volume with our mold system will overcast urethane wheels to later be machined.
Any hardness or color is available to be conductive and custom profiles may be turned into each of the conductive urethane wheels. From a simple sketch or a sample, part Plan Tech can reverse engineer existing parts for aftermarket replacements frequently at a fraction of the cost of OEM non-conductive parts!
