Plan Tech – Compliance and Certifications

Plan Tech, Inc. manufactures and sells cast urethane parts and components to companies worldwide and because of that, we need to have a variety of certifications. Below are the certifications we can provide upon request, and some information about each one.  If your company needs a certification beyond what is listed, please do not hesitate to ask us!

Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008

Plan Tech, Inc. certifies that we are fully in compliance with the requirements of Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 lead-free products.

*This landmark consumer product safety law amended CPSA in 2008 and provided CPSC with significant new regulatory and enforcement tools as part of amending and enhancing several CPSC statutes, including the Consumer Product Safety Act. The CPSIA included provisions addressing, among other things, lead, phthalates, toy safety, durable infant or toddler products, third-party testing and certification, tracking labels, imports, ATVs, civil and criminal penalties and SaferProducts.gov, a publically-searchable database of reports of harm. The CPSIA also repealed a challenging agency funding limitation and increased the number of authorized CPSC commissioners from three to five.*

The new rule takes effect on November 13, 2012.*

Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

Plan Tech, Inc. certifies that our policies and procedures are in compliance with the requirements of our Safety Data Policy and Procedures.

*The Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) (29 CFR 1910.1200(g)), revised in 2012, requires that the chemical manufacturer, distributor, or importer provide Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) (formerly MSDSs or Material Safety Data Sheets) for each hazardous chemical to downstream users to communicate information on these hazards. The information contained in the SDS is largely the same as the MSDS, except now the SDSs are required to be presented in a consistent user-friendly, 16-section format. This brief provides guidance to help workers who handle hazardous chemicals to become familiar with the format and understand the contents of the SDSs.*

RoHS 2 Directive Compliance

Plan Tech, Inc. certifies that our materials and our products are fully in compliance with the requirements of European Union RoHS 2 Directive 2011/65/EU.

StatusSubstances and Limits
Current Restrictions
  • Cadmium(Cd): 0.01%
  • Mercury: 0.1%
  • Lead(Pb) : 0.1%
  • Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) : 0.1%
  • Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB): 0.1 %;
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE): 0.1 %
  • Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): 0.1% (added in 2015);
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): 0.1% (added in 2015);

It shall be noted that above maximum concentration values apply to each homogeneous material rather than a product or a part itself. A homogeneous material means material of uniform composition throughout that cannot be mechanically separated into different materials. Some companies have set stricter limits than above regulatory limits. For example, Apple’s limit for Cadmium in homogeneous material is 0.005%.*

Each of these commercial products is a mixture composed of several PBDE congeners. PBDEs are used as flame retardants in a number of applications, including textiles, plastics, wire insulation, and automobiles.*
