FDA approved urethane gaskets include high tensile strength, outstanding abrasion resistance and excellent load bearing performance. Plan Tech can also produce cast urethane parts that are metal detectable for FDA food processors making polyurethane ideal in production lines. FDA approved urethane gaskets are non-corrosive, non-marking, chemical resistant and can withstand continued service under some of the most demanding conditions. The FDA dry food approved urethane gaskets have a temperature range of up to 170°F. FDA approved urethane gaskets can be cast, made of solid urethane or bonded to a variety of materials and are typically cast of a hardness or durometer range from 40A to 75D depending on the flexibility needed for the application.

Urethane has unique characteristics and a high resistance to abrasion or chemical degradation. A low durometer will keep the urethane gaskets flexible. Also, a much harder durometer can be used giving it the capacity to push material down the conveyor line or to change the direction of material being processed. Urethane typically can last a lot longer than rubber even in most abrasive applications. Improving detectability is critical to prevent a major contamination which will save time, effort and money before the finished product. This is a major improvement in both equipment and the ability to detect a problem before it reaches the final product. The FDA approved additives can be used with existing x-ray and metal detectors, by incorporating this FDA approved additive if the part ever broke it could be detected by a metal detector due to our high-speed mixing during the manufacturing process. The ability to blend the product allows us to fine tune how much of the FDA approved additive is blended into the parts to ensure the end product will have all the physical properties required for the application.
