Plan Tech, Inc. selected to produce thousands of tight tolerance urethane guide wheels for an automated cart manufacturer

LOUDON, NH., November 27, 2017 — Plan Tech, Inc. selected to produce thousands of tight tolerance urethane guide wheels for an automated cart manufacturer. These urethane guide wheels are critical for the operation of the production facility. As the machine is in operation the cart will drive uphill and around corners at high speed. Four wheels mounted vertically to the track are cast of a 95A hardness that will provide maximum service life and absorb the vibration of any mismatch in the track while four horizontally wheels are mounted to each corner of the cart and will help guide the cart around corners with up to a 500 pounds of force on each cart.

The horizontal wheels are cast of a softer material that will provide some suspension to the cart as it speeds towards a corner. The softer wheels will compress and rapidly return to their original shapes for years to come. Originally our customer was using a rubber wheel that was not holding up to the abuse that the machine produced. During testing, our customer found Plan Tech’s extensive molding experience and high-performance materials to outperform the original rubber wheels by 300%.

We can incorporate additives that will increase abrasion resistance and add lubricity to keep products from sticking. An Anti-static additive is also common to reduce any static build up from sliding friction.
