LOUDON, NH., December 11, 2017 — Plan Tech, Inc. selected to produce thousands of tight tolerance urethane o-rings for an automated cart manufacturer. Custom molded in high volume Plan Tech was selected to produce a variety of different size o-rings for special robotics applications in the automation industry.
Originally our customer was using rubber o-rings which proved to not be reliable in all weather conditions and were creating issues during the operation of the carts in cold climates. Plan Tech was able to produce prototype O rings in record time which solved all of the issues our customer was having. Urethane will outperform similar materials 3:1 and also has a longer service life. The urethane material will compress and rapidly return to their original shapes for years to come.
During testing, our customer found Plan Tech’s extensive molding experience and high-performance materials outperformed the original rubber o rings by 300%. This will yield parts to print with no secondary process saving you money! Urethane o-rings are available in all durometers and sizes. A variety of additives can be added to enhance wear properties or abrasion resistance. A metal detectable additive can also be added for X-ray equipment required for FDA applications. We also cast FDA Dry food approved Urethane o-rings. Polyurethane O-rings can be molded with any added thru hole for a hinge or any other configurations as well. We can also make custom urethane o-rings without the traditional circular style if your custom application requires a different shape for the polyurethane o-rings. Urethane is a great choice for high-pressure sealing devices due to the ability to tailor our chemicals in our state of the art urethane manufacturing facility. We can provide any hardness needed for your application or sealing needs. Custom urethane o-ring sizes are no problem for us here at Plan tech.
