Plan Tech, Inc. selected to produce thousands of urethane insert lock nut washers

LOUDON, NH., July 1, 2019 — Plan Tech, Inc. selected to produce thousands of Urethane insert lock nut washers for an assembly manufacturer. These urethane insert lock nut washers are critical for the operation for the machine when in operation.

Urethane lock nuts are different from a standard hex nut in that they have a urethane insert molded within the nut. When you install the urethane lock nut onto a bolt or threaded stud, the urethane insert wraps around the threads and locks the nut in place. This gives a urethane lock nut a distinct advantage over a lock washer when the bolt or threaded stud is subject to vibration, or extreme environments. Since these special rings needed to be molded to be cost-effective

Plan Tech designed a compression mold capable of producing hundreds of urethane rings of tight tolerances with a rapid turn around. Originally our customer was using a nylon lock washers that were not holding up to the corrosive environment. During testing, our customer found Plan Tech’s extensive molding experience and high-performance materials outperformed the original insert lock nuts by 300%. While the nylon insert worked for many years Plan Tech’s durable long lasting urethane has since won the business of all the existing nylon inserts due to the incredible ability of high-performance urethane and Plan Tech’s capability of compression molding of all sizes with rapid turn around. Plan Tech Production Manager, Cody Henry said, “We already produced parts like these before, we made production tooling from the beginning and we now are production with many different sizes for them!”
