Plan Tech Selected for new Urethane Gaskets

LOUDON, NH., May 08, 2017 — Plan Tech, Inc. today announced it was selected to provide urethane gaskets to one of North America’s largest wastewater treatment manufacturers. The urethane gaskets will be used in large wastewater gates to act as a sealing device as well as isolate the gate from rusting to the supporting framework. Hard urethane bar stock will guide the gate until it will crush into a softer urethane gasket where it will compression to adapt to any uneven surfaces or debris trapped into the gate. The hardness of the gasket is very important to a tight positive seal over uneven surfaces.

Urethane Gaskets

Plan Tech was chosen for its urethane gasket design expertise, product knowledge, and rapid prototyping capabilities. In fact, with this application, we used one of the current gaskets in use to make a mold from. Using an existing part will yield undersized replacement parts but for this application, it was so minimal our customer allow us to so. We saved our customer thousands of dollars in tooling cost. The performance of the new Plan Tech urethane gaskets tear strength was over a 300% improvement. This significant gasket technology improvement will reduce equipment downtime saving the end user thousands of dollars in replacement parts.
