Urethane Screen Printing Squeegee Blades

Urethane Screen Printing Squeegee Blades are the most commonly utilized material used for squeegee applications. However, there are three basic types of materials used (Rubber, Neoprene and Polyurethane) utilized in the manufacture of Squeegees, polyurethane is the preferred material for the design of squeegee meant for extended use and automatic/semi-automatic equipment.

Polyurethane is also the least expensive of the three materials, but their resistance to both physical and chemical abrasion is also by far more superior than those of rubber and neoprene. Little wonder the squeegees made of polyurethane are the most famous of all Squeegees. Our urethane screen printing squeegee blades are capable of excellently resisting high solvent and abrasion. These features enable them (the blades) to show little or no swelling during print run and effectively maintain their durometer when used in aggressive solvents/inks such as UV, Epoxy, Enamel, Vinyl etc.

While most inferior quality squeegees eventually experience a decrease in durometer or swell owing to their inability to resist aggressive solvents and abrasion against the stencil, our polyurethane screen printing squeegee blades do not, and this is due to their excellent chemical and abrasion resistance when subjected to harsh ink and solvents. Our urethane screen printing squeegee blades are available in various configurations and design that will meet the application of your screen printing requirements. There are many types of molding options while manufacturing squeegee blades such as:

Open cast molding is the simplest and most common molding method for thermoset polyurethanes.

Advantages: Since pressures and temperatures in the molding process are relatively low (ambient pressure and temps below 250F), the molds are more cost-effective and can be made from a variety of materials including polyurethane. Open cast molding urethane parts is good for parts with relatively open tolerances on one surface. If tolerances are tighter, a secondary finishing operation is an option.
